By downloading, installing, or using the LiftStrong application ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The Service

LiftStrong is a free barbell workout tracking application that provides workout programming, set logging, progress tracking, and optional community features. The App is provided "as is" for personal fitness tracking purposes.

2. Accounts

Core workout tracking features do not require an account. Community features (buddies, leaderboards, challenges, chat) require a free account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use LiftStrong responsibly and not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
Harass, abuse, or threaten other users through the buddy chat or community features.
Create multiple accounts to manipulate leaderboards or challenges.
Attempt to access other users' data or interfere with the App's infrastructure.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
Use automated tools to interact with the App in unintended ways.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within the App, including workout data, messages, and profile information. By using community features, you grant LiftStrong a limited licence to display your public profile information, leaderboard rankings, and shared workout summaries to other users you have connected with.

5. Health & Safety Disclaimer

LiftStrong is not a substitute for professional medical or fitness advice.

The 5x5 programme and weight progression suggestions are general fitness guidance, not personalised medical advice.
Calorie estimates are approximate and should not be relied upon for dietary decisions.
Consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any exercise programme, especially if you have existing health conditions.
You are solely responsible for your physical safety during training. LiftStrong is not liable for injuries sustained during workouts.
The estimated 1RM calculations are mathematical estimates and should not be used as actual lifting targets without proper training and spotting.

6. Apple Health & Health Connect

If you enable health platform integration, you acknowledge that:

LiftStrong writes workout and bodyweight data to your device's health platform.
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.
LiftStrong is not responsible for how Apple Health or Health Connect processes your health data.

7. Availability & Changes

We strive to keep LiftStrong available and functional, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

8. Intellectual Property

The LiftStrong name, logo, design, and code are the intellectual property of LiftStrong. The 5x5 strength training programme itself is a well-established public domain training methodology and is not claimed as proprietary.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, particularly for harassment, abuse, or manipulation of community features. You may delete your account at any time through the App's Settings.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LiftStrong shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the App (which is £0, as the App is free).

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of material changes through the App.
